First American Pole Fitness “Congratulations to Marlo for placing first, Zoraya  placing 2nd, and Kyra placing 3rd!  Steven- took First place in men’s category!  We love you all. Everyone did an amazing job, all the competitors were absolutely stunning, overall, a great night for everyone!” says Lian Tal, owner of Body & Pole in Manhattan.

It was the biggest night in Pole industry — the American Pole Fitness Championships™ men & women competed for titles to be the nation’s 1st champions in pole fitness artistry!

Pole fitness & dance artistry combined  focuses on pole athleticism, similar to that of gymnastics, and the technical artistry derived from classical and modern dance, the championships brought pole fitness into the mainstream sporting field on the world stage live in New York City October 23, 2010.

In this event, a Cirque like, acrobatic and gymnastic show, there were  performers and competitors in dramatic costuming like you would at a theatrical Broadway show in New York. Unlike anything else you have seen, however, the championships, are all about intense gravity-defying performances on a vertically standing pole with the human body doing beautiful things that will far exceed your expectations.

The championships were at the prestigious Manhattan Center’s Grand Ballroom Theater where world-renowned artists have performed and recorded. From Arturo Toscanini in the 30s to Grammy Award-winning recordings by Leonard Bernstein, Itzhak Perlman, Placido Domingo, to Oscar-winning film composers such as Eliot Goldenthal for Frida, the legend continues.
